I apologize for saying what virtually everyone else says, but...how is it November already? It's my birthday month...thought of doing something special here on the blog like I've done before, but then....didn't get organized. Ha!
Halloween came and went happily. It was cold, major figures in the Trump admin were indicted, the kids were adorable, candy was eaten, and I half-assed my costume as per usual. One year I'll get it together and plan ahead.
Holidays are upon us. Let's do this!
Things have been delightful around here. It's hard, but I'm trying to get things done instead of staring at the table. I can't put into words how much it means to have a piece of Sticks Furniture. I've loved it more than anything since first seeing it as a kid at New Morning Gallery in Asheville. Since then, it has been a life goal of mine to own a piece of it. That might sound silly, but it is so beautiful...it just makes me want to burst with happiness. Photos do not do it justice. Not only is it hand painted, but the design is also burned into the wood.
Chairs are on the way, should be here in time for Thanksgiving, which I am hosting for my side of the family this year.
The backyard patio and walk is done. Still needs to be sealed in the spring, but is functional. Yoga students: you can use the gate off the driveway to come into class now. Yay!
A couple of things:
I'm currently reading The Warmth of Other Suns: The Epic Story of America's Great Migration by Isabel Wilkerson. It's a big book, but goes fast and if you have interest in gaining a better understanding of race in contemporary US, read this book. It is fabulous.
Really enjoying Stranger Things 2. Only a few episodes in...we are only watching one at a time...imagine that?!
Erin Gilmore's weekly playlists on Spotify. I've discovered a lot of new stuff.
And finally, just for good measure, my favorite GIF ever:
