There is a lot I could write here about how depressing the election was in Indiana. I have never once regretted moving back to Corydon, but this week was the closest I’ve ever come to wishing I had stayed elsewhere. Somewhere like Norway, where there is true economic equality or Scotland, where the National Health Service provides quality healthcare to all. Or even Texas, a state that elected seventeen black women judges this week.
Instead I’m here in Indiana, a state that has boldly stated its support for Trump and the Republican party.
If you’re confused or unable to understand why I feel this way, here is an official statement from the President regarding California’s current wildfire si:
PEOPLE ARE DYING.
This is why I’m depressed that Indiana so strongly endorsed this man’s administration. I have no words, but Jenny Schatzle, a great IG follow, has some good ones. She lives in California and her husband is a firefighter.
However, there are great people doing good things here in Indiana and I am inspired by Dan Canon’s new project, Midwesticism.
Please consider heading over and throwing your support behind him and this endeavor. It’s such important work — we need it!
