Of course I am celebrating Father's Day today with Andrew and Dad. However, I do not feel comfortable sharing a picture perfect moment of our happy little life today when thousands of innocent children are being separated from their parents by the hands of the US Government. If you are not aware of this issue, I am shocked and appalled, but I suppose it is understandable...anyways, if that's the case, go read this and then come back.
Trump's zero tolerance policy is inhumane and reminiscent of Nazi Germany. Apathy is not an option, yet so many insist on putting their heads in the sand. We cannot stand by and let this happen. We must call our Senators and Reps every day, donate money to those working to fight it, and push back when anyone tries to rationalize it within daily conversation.
I mean, what can they say? The best defense basically boils down to:
"Well, this isn't EXACTLY like the Holocaust."
Wow...what a ringing endorsement.
I apologize if this seems harsh or depressing to you, but I'm sorry, my level of outrage and sadness is overwhelming. I find it insensitive to gush on about how grateful I am for my father and my husband today. It has made every little concern or worry I might have regarding Simon and prepping for baby girl seem downright silly.
Thank you for reading and please, let's do what we can to stop this.
