What a week it's been! I can honestly say it may be one of the best of my life. A week ago we went in for a planned c-section and everything went perfectly. To say the experience was better than Simon's birth would be the understatement of a lifetime. After only a week, I'm feeling pretty great.
Of course we are tired, but things couldn't be better with baby Ros. She is a total dream of a baby so far. She loves to eat, and sleeps mostly around the clock. Because I didn't attempt breastfeeding this time (best decision I've ever made), Andrew and I are able to take turns with nighttime feedings, resulting in us each getting at least a four hour stretch of sleep. We also took several people's advice and sent her to the nursery overnight while in the hospital, which meant we returned home well rested and ready to go. The best part is that Andrew doesn't go back to work until after Labor Day -- so amazing!
Simon is adjusting to the changes, getting better every day. Honestly, we think leaving him overnight for the first time was a bigger factor than the baby. Also, the dogs were still at the vacation kennel until yesterday and when they got back, we noticed his mood was much improved. He missed his Bagel Boys!
Andrew's garden is overwhelming us -- so much food! We originally thought it would be bad timing to have all the produce coming in when we have a newborn, but the exact opposite is true. We have no intention of going to a grocery store right now and we don't really need to because we have amazing fresh stuff coming in every day! So far the highlights have been heirloom tomatoes, zucchini, corn, and english cucumbers.
