Anybody else feel like August lasted forever? It seems like forever ago that we gathered in Bicentennial Park to honor the victims of the shootings in El Paso and Dayton. Again, thank you to all who attended. Here in Harrison County, it is easy to think that people just don’t care, but they do and we see you. I encourage anyone local that is upset about the state of things to walk with us in the Lanesville Heritage Parade on Saturday, September 14th at 1:00pm. We will be celebrating the values of the local Democratic party: compassion, honesty, and integrity….affordable healthcare, increasing teacher pay, and commonsense gun reform to be specific.
Can’t even believe that our baby Ros turned one this month. My first reaction was to say “omg where did the time go?!” but actually, it seems just right and we are so glad to be done with the bitty baby stage of parenting.
This month Mom started a daily ritual of peaceful protest and its perfect. So proud of her.
I read a terrible book (The Mother-in-Law), a very overrated one (Normal People), a great audiobook (Ghost), one that was very ahead of its time (Men Explain Things to Me), and two life-changers. John Holt’s books are remarkable. Being homeschooled myself, they have been omnipresent in my life, but I’ve never actually read the two founding texts, How Children Fail and How Children Learn. I highly recommend another book of his, Learning All the Time, which I read a couple years back.
