staying warm

Processed with VSCOcam with m5 preset Wow, has it been cold.

Word on the street is that we're in for some "wintry mix" tonight.

This week I've been keeping warm and ignoring the cold by wearing extra soft, extra long warm crazy socks.

Like everyone else, continuously dancing to this song...maybe in the shower.

Margaritas at El Mundo. Last night Andrew ordered the prickly pear and it was so good!

Thinking about this hot chocolate from my name is yeh

Reading. I'm on a roll. Currently reading these two:

Screenshot 2015-01-11 07.30.29We watched the documentary, Art and Craft. I kind of cried through the second half.

Loving my new Sorel boots. I have been wanting Sorels for ages and my head about popped off when I found them discounted by 60% at Anthropologie...they had one pair left...which was my size. I had to.

Processed with VSCOcam with m5 preset I really should end this post because I'm working on it instead of meal planning/grocery listing for the week. So far, so good on that one..we'll see how week two goes.

Stay warm!

Intentions: 2015

IMGP0854 These are not resolutions, but attempts to get my crap together.

Let me be real, I'm not in trouble on any of these fronts, I just need to REEL IT IN a bit.

Let's talk about grocery shopping

Ah god. Groceries are expensive is what I'm learning. However, I'm not doing anything to be more organized on this front. I simply decide what I want to make, go out and buy the stuff. NO. NO. NO.

That is never good for budgeting.

Because I love to organize, I love making lists, and grocery shopping, this shouldn't be hard for me to maintain. I have even made my own meal planning/grocery list printable. I tried to find one online and didn't like anything I saw. If you want to use mine you're welcome to it, a free PDF link is available under the photo.

Do you all out there have any tips and tricks? It seems like this kind of plagues everyone I know...

I've been wanting to get into Evernote for awhile. I think I might actually stick with it this time. I am in desperate need of one central note-taking spot. I think this is it.

For example: send more snail mail to those I love.

Because it's not New Year's resolution time without me saying it. Will it happen? Hell no, but I'm going to throw it out there again.

Well. That's all I can commit to at this point.

My NYE plans consist of supper at home: salmon burgers, roasted potatoes from my new cookbooks, and a bottle of champs. Andrew and plan to stay in and watch movies. My kind of night.

Frivolous and Indulgent Christmas List

I'm not a fan of the current ceiling fans in this house. Of course they are fine, but I would love to have something crazy fancy like this one from Minka Aire

glorious weather, again!

Again, the weather was glorious for the weekend. High five to whoever decided to have these beautiful days land on Saturday and Sunday!

Friday after work I headed over to Sassy Fox where I had won one of their adorable (and ridiculously soft) new tshirts! Thanks ladies! Of course I had to browse as well...needless to say I came home with some new stuff...and to an email that advertised the Groupon for the day...for Sassy Fox! Of course I snatched that up, so I should be heading back soon. Yes!

Saturday headed up to Cincinnati to visit with friends. Ate a trio of bbq sandwiches, went a little over board on frames at IKEA, ate ice cream, and Jungle Jims-ed it.

Sunday was spent cleaning, laundrying, yogaing, etc. It's truly a little annoying how much of a homebody I am, but I just love being at my house--ha! Plus, these Bagel Boys (the dogs) are such a handful, especially that Reuben...see who finally discovered those books can come down off that shelf?!? AH!

There is some construction happening right outside our house right now and I found those detour signs to be very confusing...

Happy Friday Y'all! June 15, 2012

hey hey hey all! Looks like it's going to be a beautiful day outside.

To be honest, I've had a pretty amazing week. Lots of exciting news on the job front, great weather, podcast blog shout outs, and tomorrow? A trip to Ikea and a foodie's paradise.

I hope everyone has great plans for the weekend! I'll be back later with some more "Listen to This!"

OH and this week some genius decided to invent a Lisa Frank photo sharing app....bless them

Madewell to Perfection

So...I try not to get too obsessed with shopping and thanks to the best little place, I find most of my clothes on consignment. However, there is one store/website that KILLS ME. Is it possible for one place to produce basically every piece of clothing I would ever want need like LOVE?!?

Latest looks I am loving from Madewell....le sigh....

All I can say is...THANK GOD we don't have one of these in Louisville...I would be completely broke/even more tortured.

Find all these looks here.

Props Madewell....well played.

If I have to wear shorts then...

please let them be these!!!

I hate wearing legs are never tan and as soon as you walk inside anywhere, you are blasted with frigid air conditioning...well, let me take that back -- I hate wearing shorts WITHOUT tights...with tights? I love me that look!

My favorite consignment shop here in Louisville put out their spring stuff  yesterday -- definitely going to make a trip today to get first look!

My Not-so Grown-Up Christmas List

So I was driving home from work the other was dark, raining, and I was listening to the Michael Buble (yep, don't judge...I'm his target demographic & proud) version of one of my favorite carols, "My Grown Up Christmas List."

I love the lyrics to that carol, which got me thinking of my own Christmas wish list...which made me realize that it is not so grown up. Remember the lunchbox?

Here are five of the most frivolous, unnecessary items I want right now:

1. Zoku Quick Pop Maker

2. Frye Paige Tall Riding Boot

3.  ROOT Candle - Ginger Patchouli

4.  Bench by Sticks ( By god, I will one day own a piece of this furniture)

Cherry Bomb - Louisville

I promise this is not a blog in which I take endless photos of clothes and insist you look at "what I am wearing today." BUT...

I have been going to Cherry Bomb in Louisville since high school. It is one of the few stores in Louisville to carry American Apparel, which works perfectly because then you don't have to actually go to an American Apparel store--let's face it, that is one obnoxious place.

While I assumed the general cost of living in Louisville would be very low compared to Asheville, Stavanger, Edinburgh, and Austin, I did not anticipate its boutiques and vintage shops to follow suit. However, I am quickly realizing that in Louisville, one can be fashionable without breaking ones piggy bank.

I reconnected with Cherry Bomb recently through my fellow yogi and fashionista, Lydia, of Lunar Laundry.  Lydia "upcycles" vintage pieces to make "exciting, foxy garments," such as this adorable dress:

Today I spent some time taking photos (and maybe picking up some new toasty legwarmers to get me through my first winter back in Indiana...let's not talk about it)

Cherry Bomb houses both new and vintage clothing, but most excitingly, local Louisville designers!

I'm drooling over this dress from local designer Laura Fauna:

In addition to these fabulous threads, I found some  jewelry by local makers Woodwear by Andrea and Unique Grains by Matthew Little. Unfortunately my camera battery died before catching time!

Go to the Cherry Bomb! Say hey to my fellow yogi-in-training Lydia! Happy shopping and Happy Friday/11-11-11!!

Best consignment in Louisville

My favorite way to shop for clothes is on consignment. Let me be clear, I do not enjoy "thrifting," digging through barrels of clothes that smell like mothballs, or hitting up Saturday yard sales. I love to shop "on consignment."

Many told me that I would be in consignment heaven while living in Austin, TX....not so much.  I can easily say that I have never found a better consignment shop better than Louisville's own Sassy Fox Upscale Consignment.

Their merchandise is in pristine condition, very reasonably priced, and fashionably up to the minute. The staff is excellent--always friendly and welcoming. I honestly have nothing negative to say about this boutique of recycled finds.

I only had one reservation in writing this post--I feel like Sassy Fox is a mirage in a consignment I want others to know?!?

Just kidding, of course I do! Please check them won't be disappointed!! They are located at 150 Chenoweth Ln in St. Matthews...almost too convenient of a location if you know what I mean...

I'm still devastated that these Frye ankle boots listed on their Fall 2011 boots page are not my size:
