Happy spring to all!

The world seems to be buzzing with activity, especially around these parts. Louisville is a host for the first round of NCAA men's basketball this weekend, the second race of triple crown is about to take off, and I'm looking at the next nine days off of work! Oh and don't even get me started about how lululemon oxmoor is having a markdown sale today! I'm not going, I'm not going, I'm going...

The to-do list is long for my spring break. In addition to painting the two upstairs bedrooms, I've got to get my head on straight in terms of the next three months. From April 1st on, the calendar is looking a little insane. So many great things to look forward to, but phew, it's going to be fast.

Things I'm gearing up for include a full week of classes with Saraswathi Jois at Yoga East here in Louisville. (WHHHHHHHHHHHHA!?!?!?) A dream come true to say the least. The only thing that makes me nervous is that I have to be in Louisville ready to practice by 6:00am...

Teaching yoga for the local high school cheer squad. It was a blast last time, looking forward to doing it again.

Yin yoga teacher training in Asheville. I've wanted some official training in yin for awhile--really excited for this one.

There are some big changes coming for the studio. Most of my regular students are already aware of the upcoming shift, but I'll share more on that later.

So yeah....and that doesn't even get me to June, which includes two separate trips to Asheville!

Oh and most important, on top of all that, I think that I might have to finally breakdown and get a new pair of Chaco's! BAH!

Give me strength...and the abillity to cook and freeze meals this week.

Happy Spring all!

may 2014

2014-05-04_1399237560 WHERE DID YOU GO MAY!?!?!

In May...

1. I stopped using shampoo. YEP... For a little while...I made it three weeks and just washed my hair a couple of hours ago...It didn't look horrible and I can see why people do this, but I just couldn't deal with it...pros don't outweigh the cons as of yet on this whole deal.

2. I unfortunately can't stop listening to this song...such a guilty pleasure

3. Advanced backbends are in fact, like many teachers have said over the years, actually accessible if one does them...a lot.

4. There are no movies to see in theaters....at all.

5. Take #4 into consideration along with the fact that Mad Men, Survivor, Nashville, Silicon Valley, and any other decent show have ended for the year...then you'll understand why I've rewatched more than half of season two of Dawson's Creek....doesn't justify it? Ok, you're right. I suck.

6. Julia winning a million times/dollars on Jeopardy...get it girl!

7. Book of Mormon at Kentucky Center. Brilliant and wonderful

8. There is such a thing as Trader Joe's and Whole Foods coming together into one super amazing grocery store and we now have one in Louisville: Lucky's Market.

9.Maya Angelou... RIP...

[spotify id="spotify:user:graylinporter:playlist:014xUWGHiw3ICpSQkRLIaI" width="300" height="380" /] Having a hard time dealing with how much great new music there is right now. Here's a sampling of what I'll be listening to this weekend.

[youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qr5AIKRPIHo&w=640&h=390] After listening to NPR's PCCH on Friday, I've been listening to this song all weekend.

I recommend listening to this one while cleaning your kitchen while drinking wine and eating this toffee from Trader Joe's. Also a great yoga track.

More photos on the weekend to come soon. I'm sorry for my sporadic blog posting...I'm going to try to shape it up this week.

Here's a link to Sylvan Esso on Spotify. Can't wait for their whole album on Tuesday. However, you can listen to the whole on NPR First Listen. It's pretty great....I love several of the songs...Like this one:

March 2014

2014-03-21_1395424658 Starting with massive snow storm and ending in NYC madness...March, you were great!

1. Don't wear fleece footie pajamas while walking down hardwood steps at 6:00am with a large cup of full coffee in hands...you will fall and learn that it's possible to lie in a puddle of self defeat contemplating life, covered in coffee while wearing fleece. And be incredibly sore for the next few days.

2. Pharrell Williams--you're awesome.

3. Kids these days still love high quality audiobooks and will listen to them with total attention.

4. Not only is headstand possible, but moving legs around in crazy positions while doing so might be too...EEK

5. Tom Collichio knows what he's doing....Craft was amazing.

6. Idina Menzel can sing like that IRL...and even louder.

7. Visiting with friends you haven't seen in a long while is good for the soul.

8. This song on repeat: [youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n_58FqEiG3I?feature=player_detailpage&w=640&h=360]

9. UK vs. U of L brings out the true workings on people in this area.

10. Call the Midwife is about 100x better than Downton Abbey...sorry.

five songs to bring on spring

These five songs have been on heavy rotation in my car, studio, and house lately. They're perfect for these days when we get to enjoy warmer weather for the first time.

"The Man" by Aloe Blacc [youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n_58FqEiG3I?feature=player_detailpage&w=640&h=360]

"Hennessee" by Sam Palladio, Jonathan Jackson, and Chaley Rose [youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eDSswxajQJs&w=640&h=390]

Photo May 06, 8 28 54 PMPhoto May 06, 8 29 41 PMPhoto May 06, 8 30 40 PMPhoto May 06, 8 28 13 PMA little while back I was contacted by Dress United about featuring their custom t-shirt service. This service was ridiculously easy and I am seriously considering putting in an order for more. I am very picky when it comes to tshirts...let alone custom made ones. In my opinion, there is nothing worse than a custom tshirt that is super thick, heavy, and splattered with rough screenprinting. This shirt exceeded my expectations in almost every way. Not only is it super duper soft, but the images are seamlessly printed onto the shirt as if they've been there forever.

Thank you so much for this opportunity Dress United. I can't wait to show it off around town.

Alright y'all, I'll catch you later. I've got to get off the computer and hobble to work. Kathryn Budig was UHHHHHH-mazing, but boy am I sore! (in a good way!)

Cannot believe how fast this weekly post comes around. Things are moving rather quickly it seems like lately...

What a great month!

Andrew started new job (and bonus...seems to really like it!), I got a raise + possible benefits at my day job (!!!!), and had great attendance at the studio (I love my students).  However, I have developed an addiction to  Lotsa Pasta frozen calzones that needs to be addressed and the weather was pretty poor (snow on my spring break!? BOO).

Unfortunately for Andrew, I have also been listening to the new Blake Shelton album on repeat which is truly deplorable. I think every song has the words "beer," "truck," "blue jeans," "sweet tea," "moonlight," "redneck," about 10 times...ahhh it's good, so so good. I have thrown this song in for good measure...equally annoying in a totally different way.

Also my library got about 1000x more fun when my shipment of new books arrived mid-month...now we have all 18 Elephant & Piggie books to read over and over again! Victory!

life is better with...March Madness!

I did it! I have been consistently watching the games since originally making my resolution! (only when local/NC teams  playing though).

I thought these maps from Facebook and Gizmodo showing college bball fandom were pretty fun. Love the extreme divide between IU fans in Indiana and Louisville in Kentucky. I know it's not PC, but I'm rooting for both?!? And this is just hilarious...people hate Duke:

If I have to wear shorts then...

please let them be these!!!

I hate wearing shorts...my legs are never tan and as soon as you walk inside anywhere, you are blasted with frigid air conditioning...well, let me take that back -- I hate wearing shorts WITHOUT tights...with tights? I love me that look!

My favorite consignment shop here in Louisville put out their spring stuff  yesterday -- definitely going to make a trip today to get first look!
